Enjoy a good book / movie and some cardio!

Sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day and, for some, it can be easy to bump a workout to the bottom of the priorities list.  One way you can help to motivate yourself to workout is to
save something you want to watch or listening to a good book until your are working out.  My experience is that I find I am either motivated to keep going for longer as I don't want to stop watching or listening, or I am encouraged to do another workout to see what happens next!

You may find that different movies / TV shows or books have an impact on your exercise.

While I love a rom-com, or romance film like He's Just Not That Into You, or Bad Moms, I have noticed I cycle faster when I am watching an action film such as; Law Abiding Citizen, Safe House, Training Day.

You could make the most of the free TV in the UK and watch programmes on catch up, but unless its on the BBC there are often ad breaks you cannot skip.  Amazon Prime has a good range of films and TV shows to enjoy while working out, and it doesn't hurt that you also get next day delivery on a huge range of items as well.  There is also the option to download some Prime Content so you can chose what you want to watch at the gym rather than just whats on the gym TVs.

When it comes to books Audible is a pretty good option, there are 200,000 titles to chose from.  I am currently enjoying Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance which is a fascinating insight into the man behind Space X and Tesla.   You may also find books to help motivate you, for example Running Like a Girl by Alexandra Heminsley is a great "read" if you want to start running but are struggling to get into it.

As well as novels, you will also find a wide range of books focused on personal development or nutrition, strength training, diet, exercise to help you on your fitness journey and much more.  You can exercise your mind as well as your body, or just switch off with a good book :)

Watching the TV or listening to a book can help to pass the time and distracts from the little devil on your shoulder telling you your legs hurt, you are tired, its boring, etc.  Instead you can lose yourself in a film, book or good TV series and find that you enjoy the activity far more and look forward to doing it again.
