I like to move it move it!

One of the basics you hear about getting fit and losing weight is to eat less and move more! Moving more doesn't just have to include workouts.
In addition to developing a workout plan and schedule, you could consider how you can move more during your normal day to help you burn more calories and hopefully make yourself feel energised.  I am not saying that dancing round your kitchen is going to create your ideal body, but I am championing the Tesco mentality that "every little helps".  I mentioned in a previous post that when people exercise then can then move less the rest of the day, meaning the additional exercise isn't actually as beneficial as they intended because it is counteracted by reduced movement.

Here are some ways you can move more during the day.  Yes they are fairly obvious but sometimes you just don't think about it!

1. Dance around the house - put some music on and wiggle and jiggle your way around your household chores
2. Stand up while drying your hair and step side to side
3. Drop and do 20 of something - press ups squats, etc. - if you find yourself waiting for something like the kettle to boil
4. Whenever you can take the stairs not the lift
5. Do a stretch routine in the evenings if you watch television
6. Walk where you can rather than drive
7. Do the jobs around the house that need doing rather than sitting down
8. If you have been sat down for a while, find a reason to stand up and move around - go to the toilet, go and get a drink of water
9. Take a walk at lunch time
10. Park your car a little further away from the office / supermarket

I am not saying you should never sit down, but finding opportunities to get yourself moving should help you achieve your goals.  Hopefully you will also find you feel more energised and get more stuff done!
